Innovation And Entrepreneurship For Executive (InoEfex)
We often hear the cliché “Change is a constant”. How do these two words that contradict one another appear within the same phrase? What the phrase is trying to say is actually “Change is continuous, and it is inevitable”. Change has often been viewed as something that is threatening; but this is only when we take a reactive approach towards organizational operations, where one needs to continually “firefight” unexpected happenings. On the other hand, if we are to view it proactively, then change is viewed as something beneficial to capitalize on; an identified opportunity for improvement and enhancing competitiveness.
Thus, if we agree the cliché that change is inevitable, then we should be more proactive and continuously scout for opportunities for improvement. This proactive approach is what innovation and entrepreneurship is all about. In laymen terms, innovation is about taking a creative approach towards dealing with a problem or opportunity, whilst entrepreneurship is about realizing organizational effectiveness from the innovation. These two terms are very much interlinked that for entrepreneurship to happen, innovation must precede it.
